Our first summer, postponed
It is with great sadness that we write to tell you that the first Latimer Summer School, planned for July this year, will not go ahead. In light of the Government’s guidance on the coronavirus, and after much discussion, the trustees have decided that we cannot safely bring students together this summer.
We know this will be a real disappointment to the thirty-two young people who were offered places, and to their families. It is a disappointment to us too. We have spent a year preparing for this summer.
We don’t want the summer to pass by entirely, so we are starting an online Latimer Reading Group. We will meet once a week over video call from late June to the end of August, reading short texts together with our tutors. It is open to everyone who applied this year, whether or not they were offered a place. Details will follow by email.
All students offered a place for 2020 will be guaranteed a place in 2021 if they are still eligible.
